Should I Buy a Stun Gun or a Taser Gun? What are the Differences?
December 8th, 2009Theresa M. Troolines asked:
When it comes to your personal safety you need to make sure that you are prepared to ward off
attackers who wish to do you harm. It doesn’t matter if you are a man or a woman; it’s smart to have a plan in place if someone decides to harm you. For this reason it is advised to research different means of protection. Everyone is different and tends to have a different preference on what type of defense weapon they wish to use.
For those who don’t wish to carry around a gun but want a little more protection than pepper spray can offer, might want look into the possibility or purchasing a stun gun or a taser gun.
Although similar in many aspects, a stun gun and a taser gun are not the same thing. A stun gun is a weapon that allows you to disable your attacker by giving them a short non-lethal high voltage electric shock. When you use a stun gun on someone you are basically giving them a charge of electricity that won’t cause permanent damage, but will allow you a few minutes to get away. The charge confuses the attacker’s nervous system and causes movement and thought to be quite difficult for a short amount of time.
Most stun guns can be held in your hand and receive their power from a 9 volt battery. What’s nice is that the charge is strong enough to pass through heavy clothing, but there is no transference to you if the attacker should touch you while you deliver a charge. The one downfall to a stun gun is that you have to be within reach of your attacker in order to deliver the charge.
A taser gun uses much of the same technology as a standard stun gun. The attacker is stunned with
the same charge and reacts much the same way as with a stun gun. The main difference is that unlike a stun gun, you don’t have to be right next to the attacker to deliver the charge. The stun guns charge electrodes are within the unit itself. With the taser gun, they are connected by wires. This is so that when you pull the trigger on the taser gun it is propelled towards the attacker much like a gun. With the help of small barbs, the wires latch onto the attacker and sends the shock the same way as a stun gun.
The advantage of a taser gun is that you don’t have to be right next to the attacker, you can be within a 15 foot distance to shoot your attacker. Another advantage the taser has over the stun gun is that the taser also functions as a contact stun gun if you do not wish to deploy the ‘darts’

Nanny Services in Dallas
November 6th, 2009Kristan Shildmyer asked:
Dallas is the third largest city in the state of Texas and the ninth largest in the United States. It is home to more than five million residents, almost two million of them are first and second generation Americans. A million are schoolchildren and the minority population in Dallas is about 41 percent of the total number. With a million school children nanny services in Dallas are in great demand.
Dallas is demographically well suited for nanny services. The Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) allows for long distance commuters, enabling women to work long distances away from home. This in turn fuels a demand for nanny services. Geographically Dallas is such situated that it has a number of illegal immigrants. So before hiring a nanny, make sure to inquire into the credentials well.
As a parent what concerns you the most is the safety of the child while you are not at home. It takes a lot of determination and research to find the right childcare and plenty of questions and concerns that go along with the quest. Whether you are looking a nanny for your infant or toddler or for a school-going kid in Dallas-there are a plenty of qualified and experienced nannies to consider. Always check a nanny’s background, references as well as credentials and licenses. Find the best, most trusted and affordable nanny in Dallas by doing your homework before you hire.
Nanny services and babysitting is generally provided at the child’s home, as they feel safer in their own environment. The most important thing in nanny services is that the child is receiving positive guidance provided age appropriate and in educational activities. A good nanny service in Dallas will provide quality care for your child by protecting, interacting, playing and teaching them. Depending on your family’s situation, you may need full time, part-time, live-in or shared nanny services.
In Dallas, Nanny Services are there to help your family runs smoothly when you work and busy. After all, when you are confident that your children are in safe hands, you can be more productive in your own pursuits. When your dreams may take you from East Dallas to West Fort Worth, to North Southlake and beyond, Nannies can only help you in fulfilling your dreams by taking good care of your little ones.

How Bristle Dartboards Developed
November 5th, 2009Tony Warne asked:
Nobody knows when the first dartboard was made, but early boards were made from log ends of elm. Some were made from plastacine and had to be smoothed after each leg played with a hot iron.
Today’s boards are made of sisal fibre which are the strands from a cactus of the Sisalana family. These boards were called “Bristle boards “, which has nothing to do with pigs bristle, that was a nickname given to them in the early days.
The first bristle boards were made by an English company called Nodor, which by the way come from the words “No Odor” because the plastacine board gave off a terrible smell, when smoothed using the hot iron.
Nodor boards are still made by the same company, and hold the original patent. One thing for sure nobody has more experience of making dartboards. They are by far the largest of the competition dartboard manufacturers.
The actual manufacture is done in the following manner.
The leaves of the sisal plant are harvested and stripped of there exterior skin. Then the leaves are squeezed free of their natural liquids and the fibres combed.
These metre long strands of fibre are then put into the sun to dry naturally. These processes are carried out close to the fields were the leaves are gathered. The sisal plantations are usually in Africa, but there are others in parts of china and South America.
The first thing that is done to the sisal when being made into a dartboard is as follows:
The sisal strands are put into a graded combing machine, which has several stages. It is then pulled through a second machine, which rolls the sisal like a never-ending cigarette.
This roll which is about 5 inches in diameter is then sliced across into what is known as biscuits. These biscuits are about 1 inch thick and are very even.
The next operation is to press the board. This is done on a flat bed press, which is oval in shape. Inside this press is placed the bands of steel the surround the board.
Then inside the bands the sisal biscuits are placed, the number of biscuits controls the hardness or softness of the finished product.
The next stage is to cover the biscuits in glue and place on the wooden backboard. When this is done the press is activated and compresses the sisal until it is perfectly round.
The glue used has a very fast cueing rate and it can be removed from the press immediately so the next one can be made.
The board is then put through a wide belt sander to level and remove any loose strands of sisal. This treatment also make the surface very smooth so that the next operation, which is to screen print the colours, gives the board a nice clean image.
The final operation is to wire the board into its different sections, and fit the number ring.
Up to only a few years ago the wire used has always been 1.6 mm spring steel for the whole wire system. Now many manufactures use thin blades for all or part of the wire system, which prevents many of the bouncing darts that was common on the original wiring method.
One of the first to use this method was Alana Darts which registered the blade interlocking system with a patent lawyer on the 31st May 1991. The provisional number issued by the Australian Patent, Trade Marks and Designs Offices was P2370.
Unfortunately the patent was dropped due to the huge costs involved.
The Original method of using round wires only did have one very good advantage. That was the bristles in the board allowed the dart easy *********** by moving out of the way of the point, while still being firm enough to grip the dart well.
This gave the board a very long life as little damage was caused to the bristles.
The all-bladed board also had its own advantages; few bouncing darts, higher scores, and higher averages. Also they looked better than the cluttered up round wire system. Its draw back however is that the bristles cannot move as they are locked in position by the blades. This means that when a dart strikes the point can push in several bristle fibres on entry. The result is what is called in the business compacting.
This is where the sisal is doubled up into the board and hard spots develop, in turn making the surface appear fluffy. The result is a shorter life, although the good has to be weighed up against the bad.
In saying this I must point out that a lot of the damage done to bladed boards could be avoided, if the players would keep their dart points in top condition, even if it means changing them on a regular basis. Unfortunately this is not done enough, and the manufacturer of the board receives the blame for short lived products.
Another problem the modern board has the use of tungsten darts, Which has improved the accuracy of the player due to the dart being slimmer in other words allowing for tighter grouping.

Sports Betting 101
November 3rd, 2009Mansi Gupta asked:
Betting on sports is perhaps as old as the various games themselves. Millions of people have made huge money out of betting on sports. Possibly no game is left virgin of betting. All games have bookies and wages attached to them. Alike is the case with the countries across the globe. Betting is becoming a universal phenomenon nowadays. The difference however lies in the fact that some countries have accepted betting and so have legalized it while others still consider it illicit. For instance betting is taken to be legal nearly in entire Europe whereas Nevada is the only place in United States of America where wagering is deemed to be lawful. But the geographical scenario does not bring much variation in the terms and conditions or the rules and style of betting. The betting policies for a particular game for example cricket remain approximately the same around the world.
But what differs with the place or country is the sport and the amount of bets placed on it. Like people in Asian countries are leaders in betting on cricket. Cricket is the favorite sport in the Asian subcontinent. But in Europe and America games like horse racing, basketball, hockey, soccer and football etc. receive topmost priority. Thus that sport is wagered the most, which is relished, by maximum number of people.
Australia is one of the best places in the world to enjoy betting. This is because betting is legal in Australia and there are ample of sports that are cherished by the Aussies. Australian Football and Rugby are the two eminent names in this category. Lots of good information and even betting guidelines or tips about these games and many others like tennis are available on the Internet due to the legality of sports betting in Australia.
Ireland is the land that gives birth to the most of the English sports action. Irish football and Hurling are unique English sports. Rugby, cricket, golf and tennis are other English sports that invite lot many bookmakers and so bets. The English Premier League or one can say the English Soccer involves tremendous wagering in Europe. Darts are also famous among the English. Many people love betting on the not so common game of Darts. But this isn’t all. Punters never leave The National Leagues, the National and International Cups, the Motor Sports like Formula F1 Racing, the IRL or the Indy Racing League and the NASCAR i.e. the National Association of Speedy Cars and Rednecks, involves million dollar wages or even more every year.
Human beings have always made good business through animals. Along with the horse racing the racing of animals like camels, pigs, ponies and dogs invite great amount of betting in Europe as well as on the land of America.
While betting on any game what should be followed is your knowledge of the game and what your intuition or common sense says. A bettor should be pretty clear and confident over the option of his bet. If an individual is making a bet for the first time, don’t bet big. It can lead to unexpected snags. Remember, it takes time to learn and develop betting skills.

Starter Guide to Self Improvement
September 18th, 2009sulamita berrezi asked:
So how do you stay calm, composed and maintain self esteem in a tough environment? Here are some tips you may to consider as a starter guide to self improvement.
Imagine yourself as a Dart Board. Everything and everyone else around you may become Dart Pins, at one point or another. These dart pins will destroy your self esteem and pull you down in ways you won’t even remember. Don’t let them destroy you, or get the best of you. So which dart pins should you avoid?
Dart Pin #1 : Negative Work Environment
Beware of “dog eat dog” theory where everyone else is fighting just to get ahead. This is where non-appreciative people usually thrive. No one will appreciate your contributions even if you miss lunch and dinner, and stay up late. Most of the time you get to work too much without getting help from people concerned. Stay out of this, it will ruin your self esteem. Competition is at stake anywhere. Be healthy enough to compete, but in a healthy competition that is.
Dart Pin #2: Other People’s Behavior
Bulldozers, brown nosers, gossipmongers, whiners, backstabbers, snipers, people walking wounded, controllers, naggers, complainers, exploders, patronizers, sluffers… all these kinds of people will pose bad vibes for your self esteem, as well as to your self improvement scheme.
Dart Pin #3: Changing Environment
You can’t be a green bug on a brown field. Changes challenge our paradigms. It tests our flexibility, adaptability and alters the way we think. Changes will make life difficult for awhile, it may cause stress but it will help us find ways to improve our selves. Change will be there forever, we must be susceptible to it.
Dart Pin #4: Past Experience
It’s okay to cry and say “ouch!” when we experience pain. But don’t let pain transform itself into fear. It might grab you by the tail and swing you around. Treat each failure and mistake as a lesson.
Dart Pin #5: Negative World View
Look at what you’re looking at. Don’t wrap yourself up with all the negativities of the world. In building self esteem, we must learn how to make the best out of worst situations.
Dart Pin #6: Determination Theory
The way you are and your behavioral traits is said to be a mixed end product of your inherited traits (genetics), your upbringing (psychic), and your environmental surroundings such as your spouse, the company, the economy or your circle of friends. You have your own identity. If your father is a failure, it doesn’t mean you have to be a failure too. Learn from other people’s experience, so you’ll never have to encounter the same mistakes.
Sometimes, you may want to wonder if some people are born leaders or positive thinkers. NO. Being positive, and staying positive is a choice. Building self esteem and drawing lines for self improvement is a choice, not a rule or a talent. God wouldn’t come down from heaven and tell you – “George, you may now have the permission to build self esteem and improve your self.”
In life, its hard to stay tough specially when things and people around you keep pulling you down. When we get to the battle field, we should choose the right luggage to bring and armors to use, and pick those that are bullet proof. Life’s options give us arrays of more options. Along the battle, we will get hit and bruised. And wearing a bullet proof armor ideally means ‘self change’. The kind of change which comes from within. Voluntarily. Armor or Self Change changes 3 things: our attitude, our behavior and our way of thinking.
Building self esteem will eventually lead to self improvement if we start to become responsible for who we are, what we have and what we do. Its like a flame that should gradually spread like a brush fire from inside and out. When we develop self esteem, we take control of our mission, values and discipline. Self esteem brings about self improvement, true assessment, and determination. So how do you start putting up the building blocks of self esteem? Be positive. Be contented and happy. Be appreciative. Never miss an opportunity to compliment. A positive way of living will help you build self esteem, your starter guide to self improvement.

Top 3 Indoor Sports
August 24th, 2009Kirk Mathews asked:
When you think of playing indoors, do you think of your Wii? Do your thoughts automatically go to your board game collection? Or do you have something a little bigger in mind?
If you’re looking to expand your indoor fun, why not try your hand at an indoor sport or two? There are tons of options out there, limited only by what type of space and spending allowance you have. Even available space need not be a great consideration these days, since lots of popular indoor sport games tables come in a variety of sizes. This variety definitely can accommodate even the smallest of spaces.
What indoor sports come to your mind when you think about it? Probably air hockey, pool, table tennis, and foosball come to mind. Darts and bean bag tossing, known as “Baggo” or “CornHole” to some might also pop into your head. Laser tag could also be considered an indoor sport, but does require a considerable amount of fairly expensive equipment.
The biggies, though, have to be Air Hockey, Pool, and Ping-Pong. These are all sports which are played on a “games table” and require, if not a lot of skill, a commitment to having fun. Of course, some might argue with me on the “skill” part, but I say that you can play any of these games whether you are “good” or not.
If you have an air hockey table, plug it in and go have fun. Grab a mallet, cool your fingers in the jets of air, and get started! Sliding that puck across the table, banking it off the sides and hearing that satisfying “kachunk” when it slides into the goal is what it’s all about. This, among all indoor sports, is one that almost anyone can play.
Of course, it would be difficult to play this game alone; unlike pool or ping-pong (in which you can fold up half the table and bounce the ball off of it racquetball-style). However, I’m sure there are lots of enterprising individuals out there who have come up with a way. Aside from that, though, air hockey is a fun game that appeals to almost everyone. From grandmas to little boys, almost everyone has played a game or two at some point.
You can also find air hockey tables almost anywhere. While you might not see many “Air Hockey Halls”, you can be sure to find them at your local arcades, family fun centers, bowling alleys, hotel game rooms and even skating rinks. Churches with active youth groups and even some middle and high schools may even have them. No matter where you go, you are likely to bump into one of these fun games tables.
If the top 3 indoor sports are air hockey, pool and ping-pong, my vote goes to air hockey. It appeals to everyone, can be found virtually anywhere, and are fun and satisfying to play. If you haven’t already, hop in the car, on your bike, or onto the bus and find a place to shoot some puck.

Do you want to take the darts to the map method or did you have a specific reason for you highway adventures? There are several factors to consider.
? How much time do you have?
? How far do you want to go?
? Will this be point A to point B trip or will you make stops along the way?
Let’s say you’ve decided to go from Atlanta to Richmond and along the way you stop off in Chapel Hill to catch an ACC game. Or maybe this is the year you make it to the Grand Ole Opry? Who knows? Best bet is to pick your destination, who you want to go with and then do some planning on time, where to stay, budget and final destination. All the stuff in between is what road trip legends are made out of.
Wheels Man, Wheels
Option A – take the beat up jalopy that barely gets you to work on time or head online to your favorite car rental company and pick up a sweet ride that will not only get you down the road of fun but offer a better chance of not breaking down. Maybe you don’t have a beat up old car. You’ll probably still want to take your vehicle in for a road trip tune-up to make sure everything is working well. Also make sure that Triple AAA card is paid up, you have a couple of decent maps and some quality GPS technology. Getting all that in order, with keys in hand, the road most traveled, less traveled or never traveled eagerly awaits you.
All Together Now
You’ve got the ride, you’ve got the crew, and you’ve got the snacks, map, and destination. There are still a few things you want to throw in for good measure. Take a camera, preferably something durable that you can use for some goofy candid shots or the world’s largest ball of yarn. Don’t stress if you get lost. That’s part of taking a road trip. Sometimes you get lost and that detour ends up becoming a hidden, unplanned treasure. The key to any successful road trip is to be prepared and to be prepared for anything.

The Dart Supplies you Need
June 29th, 2009Steve Porter asked:
There are lots of super gizmos in the world of dart supplies these days from the coolest looking dart cases, to flight protectors and the latest spinning shafts and if you are looking to add a touch of class to your darts how about titanium shafts? Obviously you are going to need some spare parts like flights and shafts, and if you are a soft tip darter some replacement tips. But there are a lot more goodies to choose from, as we’ll get into now.
One of the cool things to have if you are a steel tip darter is the battery operated tip sharpener.which shapes the dart tip to the correct angle in moments. Sure beats the traditional method of rubbing the tip on grinding paper.
The add a gram is an interesting idea. As the name suggests, you can add a gram of weight to your dart by screwing these into your dart and they come in packs of 6. (The shaft then screws into the brass weight) Then try the extra weight to see if your game gets any better. The add a grams are often part of a dart tuning kit that not only includes the add a grams but extra flights of varying shapes and shafts. You can then try out various combinations of weight, flights and shafts to improve your accuracy. Worth a try I suppose.
If you are a soft tip darter you are going to need replacement tips for when those tips get bent or broken. Halex have come out with notched soft tips to help stop the darts falling out of the board, never tried them myself, but they might be worth a go or just settle for the standard straight soft tip replacements.
One item every darter must have is the dart tool. The tool is handy for soft and steel tip darters. It not only helps you replace soft tips, but you can use it to straighten metal shafts and prize apart the metal tangs that hold your flight to make the flights fit better.
You must also have a set of flight protectors as not only do they protect the flight from being hit by a dart, they maintain the right shape of the flight when installed. These are a must have item for all darters.
Another way to protect your flights is to use the “spinner” shafts. The spinning shafts can spin so if they are hit by an incoming dart, they can spin the flight out of the way, so they protect the flight and do not hinder the dart just thrown.
Soft tip darts can have ***** in steel tips to change them into steel tipped darts so you can use them on bristle boards. You can even have a ***** in hammerhead type steel tip if the ***** thread on you barrel is deep enough. These retractable steel tips can retract slightly into the barrel so that if your tip hits a wire on the board the tip can retract slightly absorbing the impact whilst allowing the forward momentum of the dart to force the dart into the board. They greatly reduce the number of bounce outs you get with a standard tip.
We have covered only a small selection of the dart supplies available, there are lots more,. so when you are looking for a present for the darts player in your life you have lots of choice.
