Dart your Way to an Exciting Evening

Monday, February 25th, 2008

Sue Jan asked:

Dart games have become popular over the years as it is inexpensive to play, can be played indoors during bad weather, no dress codes are required, and can be played by anyone – male or female, young or old.

The basic requirements are a dartboard and darts. With the advancement of technology dartboards have also evolved through the times. The most common dartboard is the bristle board – either cork or sisal. Cork dartboards deteriorate quickly with continued used, as the darts leave holes in the boards and the cork crumbles. The fibrous nature of sisal, however, is able to overcome this drawback and has therefore gained popularity. Sisal does not crumble even after constant use. Electronic dartboards are also available, and are equipped with sensors allowing for automated scoring.

There are various types of darts. The main parts of a dart are the tip, barrel, shaft and flight. Tips are either steel or soft. Soft tips are preferred on electronic dartboards and cork dartboards and are also recommended for new players. Steel tips are for the more experienced dart players. Shafts also come in various types. Synthetic flights are the most common nowadays and can be combined with the shafts. The use of feathers as flights has decreased considerably nowadays.

Many dart accessories are available nowadays. Instead of simply hanging the dartboard on walls, dart cabinets can be used to add style and elegance to your dart game. Many players also attach add-a-grams to get the required weights on the darts. The perfect weight improves accuracy in shooting. Dart mats are useful for new players, as the bounce-off from the boards may cause considerable damage to the floor. It is also important to have a rulebook as there are many methods of keeping scores and the game can be played under different rules. Scoreboard is also a must if you are not using electronic dartboards.

Dyspnea at High Altitude in Bible and Quran

Friday, February 22nd, 2008

Prof.dr. Ibrahim Khalil asked:

In this series of articles (1-21), it is obvious that the Quran is quite different from the Bible and always preceded the Sciences.

In the present topic of Dyspnea at high altitude, the smart reader could easily answer this dogmatic question: Is the Quran quoted from the Bible?

The Bible never talks about Dyspnea at high altitude.

On the other hand, the Quran foretold about this problem for more than 1400 years ago and behold that no one thought about this problem till the scientists discovered it in the last century.

Before dealing with the topic of the Dyspnea at high altitude in Bible versus Quran versus sciences, it is essential to remember that the total words of the Bible are 788,280 while total words of the Quran are 77,473. It follows that, the Bible has the potential of more than 10 times the Quran to talk about any topic.

Dyspnea means difficulty in respiration, tightness of ****** or constriction of the chest that occurs in the high altitude.

Dyspnea is a problem that man faced in traveling in the space; it occurs from the rarity of air in the upper layers of the sky.

The Bible never talks about this problem.

On the other hand, the Quran foretold about this problem more than 1400 years ago.

Dyspnea at high altitude in the Bible:

When searching the Bible, no results are found for Dyspnea, respiration, and/or high attitude

On the other hand, chest and ****** are mentioned 16 and 70 times respectively in the Bible.

Nevertheless, the Bible never gives any hint about Dyspnea, difficulty in respiration, tightness of ****** or constriction of the chest that occurs in the high altitude.

Example of the use of ****** in the Bible:

Leviticus 7:31

The priest shall burn the fat on the altar, but the ****** belongs to Aaron and his sons.

Isaiah 60:16

You will drink the milk of nations and be nursed at royal *******. Then you will know that I, the LORD, am your Savior, your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.

Ezekiel 16:7

… Your ******* were formed and your hair grew, you who were ***** and bare.

Ezekiel 23:21

So you longed for the lewdness of your youth, when in Egypt your bosom was caressed and your young ******* fondled.

Luke 23:29

For the time will come when you will say, ‘Blessed are the barren women, the wombs that never bore and the ******* that never nursed!’

Example of the use of chest in the Bible:

Job 41:19-26

19 Firebrands stream from his mouth; sparks of fire shoot out.

20 Smoke pours from his nostrils as from a boiling pot over a fire of reeds.

21 His breath sets coals ablaze, and flames dart from his mouth.

22 Strength resides in his neck; dismay goes before him.

23 The folds of his flesh are tightly joined; they are firm and immovable.

24 His chest is hard as rock, hard as a lower millstone.

25 When he rises up, the mighty are terrified; they retreat before his thrashing.

26 The sword that reaches him has no effect, nor does the spear or the dart or the javelin.

Daniel 2:32

The head of the statue was made of pure gold, its chest and arms of silver, its belly and thighs of bronze,

Revelation 1:13

and among the lampstands was someone “like a son of man,” dressed in a robe reaching down to his feet and with a golden sash around his chest.

Revelation 15:6

Out of the temple came the seven angels with the seven plagues. They were dressed in clean, shining linen and wore golden sashes around their chests.

It is obvious that you could not find any hint about Dyspnea, difficulty in respiration, tightness of ****** or constriction of the chest that occurs in the high altitude.

Dyspnea at high altitude in the Quran:

Changes occur at high altitudes

Almost 100 years ago, medical researches started address the functions of the human body when rising up at high altitudes.

Space medicine gives so much details of this issue, in which the Dyspnea is explained in two main causes:

1- Less oxygen rates at high altitudes.

2- Decrease of air pressure.

The higher the man climbs up in sky the less is the oxygen

The more we rise up from the surface of the earth, the more the air pressure decreases, thus leading to decrease of the rate of air passage through the alveoli to blood. Decrease of air pressure also leads to distention of gases in stomach and intestines that push the diaphragm upwards, thus pressing over and obstructing the extension of lungs.

The Quran which was revealed fourteen centuries ago states in

Surah 6:125

“those whom Allah (in his plan) willeth to guide,- he openeth (expand and sooth ) their ****** (chest) to Islam; those whom he willeth to leave straying,- he maketh their ****** (chest) strait, narrow, tight and constricted, as if they had to climb up to the sky: thus doth Allah (heap) the penalty on those who refuse to believe.”

Herein, Allah said that the one who climb up in the sky his chest is strait, narrow, tight and constricted

Thus, this verse displays a miraculous identicalness when presenting a scientific fact in a very eloquent and clear style. Points of the miracles of this verse are:

When people first heard of the verse of man’s climbing to sky (space), they considered it as a sort of imagination, and that Quran regards the ascension to space in a metaphorical manner. Actually the verse is a prophecy that came true centuries after it was first revealed.

The similitude is very accurate, as climbing to high distances in the air causes chest tightness and the feeling of suffocation. The more the ascension increases, the more tightness reaches so critical and difficult stage that respiration is not possible any more. That’s why oxygen cylinders are taken when ascending up the sky, as in space ships!

In conclusion,

The Bible never talks about Dyspnea, difficulty in respiration, tightness of ****** or constriction of the chest that occurs in the high altitude.

On the other hand, the Quran foretold about this problem from 1400 years ago and behold that no one thought about this problem till the scientists discovered it in the last century.

I will leave the answer for the dogmatic question of is the Quran quoted from the Bible for the just smart reader.
